Well the amazing news is that I’ve been offered the opportunity to exhibit some of my photography at a local gallery.  Unfortunately there are costs involved in this honour and I need to weigh them up – the obvious costs being printing and framing, but I also need to hire the wall space (the lowest cost being a  6′ x 6′ area of wall) which has a two-week minimum hire charge.

My ego says hire the whole hall, print hundreds of pictures, leave them for six months and you’ll be a millionaire by then.  The reality is more like hire one 6′ x 6′ area for a month to six weeks and print out six strong images.

But how do I decide which pictures? Am I going to sell any of them?  How much will people be willing to spend on them? How much do I spend on framing?

This my dear friends of the blogosphere is where I am seeking your help…..

Please look through the pictures and let me have your comments on any or all of the following:
* which six prints I should go with;
* whether you would have them on your wall;
* how much would you be willing to pay for a framed copy of approx 10″x 8″ inches;
* should I go with a theme, wildlife as a whole/owls/big cats/Brighton etc. etc. etc.?

Please share this post around your friends – I will be giving away one personalised signed print (of your choice) to whomever writes the most helpful comment (not in the least bit impartial but it’s my competition) wherever in the world you may hail from.

I need to make some decisions in the next fortnight so that’s how long I’ll keep the initial run open for. Don’t forget to mention which print number you’d like as your prize.

Please feel to leave your comments below or you can go through the Facebook page or email them directly to rantingmrbunnychow@gmail.com

You see I am agonising over every aspect – I need your help!

Take care and thank you in advance

P.S. I reserve the right to ignore all advice and take more pretty pictures between now and when the exhibition happens.

I’ve recently been interacting on Google+ with a very talented photographer called Thorn Button I love the film noir style and have tried to emulate it with projects like my recent Churches and Dead People and Project Dark series actually emulate is the wrong word, take inspiration from.

Any way I highly recommend that you see Thorn out, he’s personable and always willing to offer helpful critique. I especially admire his portrait work, although I should warn you that whilst none of it is gratuitous at the same time it’s probably safest to advise that it’s “not safe for work”

I’d love to try some similar style portraiture for myself if there are any willing models out there,please do get in touch via rantingmrbunnychow@gmail.com and we’ll see if we can sort something out. It doesn’t matter to me if you’re young, old, male, female or even a couple, it could be great fun and you’d hopefully get some great images of yourself out of it.

noir angel

Noir Angel, you’ve seen this picture before but I’ve since added a touch more vignette.

Are there any artists who inspire you, please comment below I’d love to check them out.

I’m hoping to get around to processing for Week 33 (texture) of my Project 52 this evening for publishing tomorrow, assuming the shots I’ve got sitting in my camera come out the way I hope they have you’ll be able to see more of Thorn’s influence and Rats View style within them, although we’ll all have to wait and see.

Until then

Mr Bunny Chow.

As I’m sure many of you are picking up by now I have fallen back in love with photography and spending as much of my limited free time as possible with a camera in hand experimenting and trying to learn more about this fascinating craft.

One of the things that I’m finding toughest though is that I’m too much of a wimp to approach strangers on the street and ask to take their portraits, nor am I brave enough to just take their pictures guerrilla style and not ask at all/ask later. I know that this is what many of the photographers I admire most do but I’m not there yet.

I know you’ve by now seen plenty of my abstracts and nocturnal wanderings but I’ve only had minimal exposure to portraiture away from my own kids and would love to learn more. So with that in mind I’m going to throw my cards on the table and offer myself out to you the public.

I can’t promise you amazing results but if you’d spare me yourselves I’m interested in taking portraits of you, your kids, your pets etc. etc.

For now at least I won’t charge for my time or digital copies of any pictures that you like so if you’re willing to come to me (Croydon, South London) it will be free, gratis, nada.

If you want me to travel or are looking for studio shots or prints then I’ll look to recoup my expenses and nothing more.

Give it some thought people, are your kids at that age where you want to remember them, are your parents getting wrinkly and interesting, do you have a wedding coming up and want some alternative candid shots (please still hire a pro it’s your special day after all) do you just fancy an afternoon having a giggle while I phaff about trying to look moody and cool.

My main passion is for Black and White but will experiment with whatever your needs may be.

Please pass the word out to your friends and family and get in touch via rantingmrbunnychow@gmail.com and we’ll make a plan.

I look forward to the rush.
