About

I’m Mr Bunny Chow or at least that’s my nom de plume, I like to get things off my chest so this is somewhere for me to rant about things that annoy me, somewhere for me to praise people and services that I love and talk about anything that springs to mind. If you want to get in touch you can email me any time at rantingmrbunnychow@gmail.com

Just for the record I am a husband to the delightful and long-suffering Mrs Bunny Chow and father to two delightful children known in these pages as The Monkey Boy who at the time of writing is just over two years old and The Bug who is six months old. Their names are fairly self-explanatory with the older child climbing and attacking everything he can his name is genuinely what we call him most of the time and The Bug unfortunately for him when he first came out looked like an angry woodlouse. His looks have already improved but for now at least the name has stuck.

Our home also contains a small menagerie consisting of two sweet but noisy cats Wors and Marula and of course the namesake of this Blog my darling sweet rescue Staffie, Bunny Chow who holds the title for being both the sweetest and stupidest dog the world has ever known.

I also run an Amazon Store which I keep populated with stuff that I’ve tried and approve of. I do earn commission from them but it really is all good stuff that I can personally recommend and I appreciate every penny you spend through me. If there are any questions you have about anything in the store and my experience with it please just ask and I’ll answer honestly.

Since beginning I’ve had a fair few comments about my poor use of grammar and spelling, I apologise for this and make the excuse that everything you see here is written at speed and with passion then posted unedited and without proofreading. The reasons behind this are partly that time constraints mean that the majority of my writing is crammed into bathroom breaks and during childcare duties in the middle of the night and partly just because I am lazy. If you want to make comment or point out any of my errors you are more than welcome to, I could certainly learn something from you even if I’m unlikely to correct any of them retrospectively they might just give me or the other readers a giggle.

If you have any suggestions as to books you’d like me to read and or review or any other product for that matter please get in touch via the above email address and I will add my honest review to the reviews section of the site.

I am also now writing and updating a new blog focussing my love of food, wine, beer etc and you can read this by visiting Mr Bunny Chow Cooks.

I also have a list of links on the site to businesses and sites whose services I enjoy for a variety of reasons, either I’ve used them myself or they are run by friends who I know to be competent or they might just make me smile. Please do take a minute or two to check all of them out I know they’ll appreciate your custom.

Prior to www.mrbunnychow.com I ran a blogger site based on the same principles and all of the older posts here came across from there. The main reasons behind my change are simply that I was offered a years free hosting of the domain name through WordPress and that I found their layout simpler for my simple brain to edit.

Anyway I’m sure you’re all bored and itching to get on with looking around the rest of the site so for now.

Mr Bunny Chow

P.S. It’s been a while since I updated my about page and I thought I’d throw in an addendum as more and more I have been using the site to showcase my photography and Project 52 where I along with many others have challenged ourselves to take at least one photo a week along suggested themes in order to try to improve my own skills as a photographer. Photography is not a new passion for me but something that I had neglected in recent years. Since I began blogging and joining Google+ I have found myself exposed to and following thousands of incredibly talented photographers and artists and this has inspired me to get my own creative juices flowing again.

I make no pretensions of being a professional or even aspiring professional but truly enjoy spending as much of my free time as possible with a camera of some sort in my hands.

  1. Glad to have found your blogs! Anybody who has a Staffie (and especially a rescue Staffie) must be a good person! 🙂 We have a 3-year old female Staffie with the same colouring as your dog. Lovely dogs, aren’t they?

    • I’m obsessed with my baby girl, she really is the stupidest sweetest dog in the world. I didn’t know much about staffies before we began looking for a dog but approaching rescue organisations it quickly became clear that sadly the UK has a huge number of abandoned staffies as for a time they very sadly became fashion items amongst the lower class of society as well as being bred for illegal dog fighting and these same oiks have simply abandoned them when they’ve realised that they actually take some work or discover like in the case of my dog that they just don’t have a vicious bone in their body.

My girl has simply changed my life for the better, she is obsessed with me, sleeps in my bed, and at least attempts to get more attention than my two young sons. She’s also wonderful with them, incredibly patient and gentle when the toddler is pulling on her ears or trying to ride her, the only time she’s ever even growled is when the toddler bit her and she got a fright. Once I was home alone with two screaming kids and while I fed the older one she instictivly began licking the top of the babies head to try and calm him down.

I’ll never be without another staffie.

thanks for reading and take care

Mr. Bunny Chow! I am subscribing this minute, simply based on your name. I have written about bunny chows on several occasions on my blog. Love them. Thanks for bringing me over to your blog. And your dog is adorable.

  3. Love this! Great blog. And your dog is adorable!

  4. yoonanimous says:

Mr. Bunny Chow, I’m a delighted new reader. You’re quite the renaissance man–excited to try the garlic naan. I’m glad your Bug’s looks are improving, and your dog looks really, really funny.

    • Welcome aboard Yoona, my wife would describe me as a neanderthal, no that’s a lie but I try and keep things even, I still can’t clean so try and balance things out with cooking experimentation

  5. rossanaf says:

Loved the look of your site. Congrats, great improvement.

  6. rigmover says:

Hey thanks for the follow, Hope you enjoy my blog, you have a great blog here.

  7. dockfam says:

I like your non-edited approach. My blog won’t be winning any grammar awards any time soon either…and English was always my favorite subject. When I saw “professional complainer” I knew i needed to check you out. That’s my 2nd career too 🙂

  8. Hello Mr. Bunny!

My name is Christopher John Taylor. My wife Kate and I run an online entertainment magazine, TheBOX. We just launched it on the first of July.

We are currently looking for writers to submit original content in specific categories like, Film, Television, Fashion and Music as well as Art, Theater, Culture, Food and Travel and to intersperse that original content with our mainstream entertainment based offerings daily.

Thanks to Leslie at Bucket List we came across your work and liked it.

We’d like to invite you to write some articles for us to enhance both you and your blog’s reputation as well as promoting you as a writer.

If you’d be interested in this, we’d like to talk further. Please email myself ctaylor@htla973.com or Kate (Editor in Chief) ktaylor@htla973.com and we can set up a talk.

Looking very much forward and best regards,
    Chris

I was curious to see Bumi Hills in your blog roll. We had a wonderful stay there on our honeymoon way back in 1993.

  10. Thank you so much for following my me! I love your photographs and blogs! Can’t wait to see more 🙂

  11. zelmare says:

You’ve disappeared. What happened? Are you and yours OK? Hope it’s only work pressure that’s keeping you from blogging! 🙂

  12. TBM says:

Hello. I”m glad we met. The mystery photos may drive me bonkers, but I have been able to make friends with other bloggers via this frustration and fun.

    • it’s a dangerously distracting way to pass a Friday. I’m glad we’ve met too, I noticed a glaring hole in your southern african explorations, why no Zimbabwe

      • TBM says:

We stepped foot in Zimbabwe when we visited Victoria Falls, but I don’t count it since I want to go back and explore the country more. we only had a few weeks to explore and of course money always comes into play. Next time!

      • eurgh money, it sucks doesn’t it. Keep in touch though my father is still there running his own little safari company which makes him cheap and flexible, which are generally my first travel priorities.

      • TBM says:

        Excellent. I will remember that!!!!

  13. How is it possible that after all this time I finally realized that I was not “following” you. My deepest apologies and the situation has been quickly rectified! LOL

    • I’m shocked, not to worry, I catch myself doing things like that it’s allowed. welcome I’ll try not to bore you too much

      • You could never bore me, especially when you’re in cahoots with the other two Musketeers, TBM and LouAnn :). You guys keep me laughing!!

      • thos two are dangerous, I blame you entirely

      • TBM says:

I blame Cindy for everything…she keeps promising to get me organized and now I can’t find my tupperware lids or socks.

      • Geez, this is starting to sound like home where I get blamed for everything LOL!! TBM, you can’t find your Tupperware lids because I haven’t been over there to get you organized yet! I think I am going to have to start giving you challenges every day. One day it will be to clean out your kitchen cupboards and find your lids and another day it will be to put all your books in alphabetical order – first by author and then by title. Which one would you like to tackle today? 🙂

      • TBM says:

I actually organized my fiction today…so I think that’s good for this year. Come one 2014!

      • Oh TBM, I’m so very proud of you!! However, there is no way that I will let you away with one organizing project a year. It has to be at least one a month :).

      • eh I’m confused it’s possible to do more than one a year?

      • Silly Mr. Bunny Chow, of course it’s possible. Oh, I have so much work to do with you two :).

  14. Grrrr, I hate when I type a comment and then it doesn’t show up, so I apologize if this shows up twice. How is it possible that after all this time I finally realized that I have not been “following” you. I am deeply sorry, and the problem has been quickly rectified!!

  15. I have nominated you for the Sunshine Award:D Check it out on my site! http://wannabephotographer87.wordpress.com/2013/04/28/more-awards/
